You Too Can Be a Paid Expert!

What you know can make you an income! Do you believe this? Most people discount their knowledge base as being worthless to anyone but themselves, but this is just not true. We live in a knowledge based economy and that means people are willing to pay money for information. If you doubt that, just take a trip to your local bookstore and check out the magazine rack.

There are hundreds of magazines available on just about every topic you can think of – electronics, quilt making, photography, writing, art, landscaping and more. Whatever your interest is, be sure there is probably a magazine dedicated to it. What does this mean for you in terms of building a business? Think about what you enjoy or what you’re good at. Ask yourself, is there an audience for it? You may have knowledge and skill for something specific like repairing Honda engines, fly fishing, repairing fiberglass boats, wood carving, backpacking and so on.

Or maybe, you consider yourself an expert on the grill: I just read a story recently about an individual who is making $250,000 a year selling cookbooks from his web site. You can check it out at www.chitterlings.com.

Sometimes we dismiss what we know, because we’re so familiar with it. We fail to realize that there are people who would pay serious money for this information.

Maybe you don’t think you’re an expert on anything. If that’s the case (which I doubt), then find someone who is an expert on something you are interested in and interview them. Ask them if you can use their knowledge to build an online business. Pay them a royalty for their intellectual property..

A friend of mine did this recently. He interviewed other people who were building successful online businesses and recorded these interviews. He then did something very creative. He took all of these recorded interviews and transcribed them into book format which he had published and now sells for $15. He sold 60 copies his first day and makes about a $10 profit.

The key is to take action. Most people come up with good ideas but never act on them because they have doubts. Doubts always steals a person’s resolve. Take some paper and a pen and brainstorm. Make a list of all the things you know a lot about or are good at. Then ask yourself which ones might be profitable. You’ll soon find that you too can be a paid expert!
